ABOUT US

Odemin's Creeations & Tannery is a native-owned online store that sells high quality beadwork and native art, along with occasional workshops within the area as well as online. We are located in Northern Ontario, Canada.  Our journey began with my deep passion and love for beading. As a child I was always fascinated with all the beads and the things people could make with them. I was always told by others that my creativity was my strong suit and often preferred my art supplies to the other kids.

When I first became a mom, I was a 17-year old high school student on welfare who couldn't find work with a schedule that allowed me to spend real quality time with my daughter on top of my academics and increasing health issues, so on a whim I made 12 pairs of fringe earrings to sell to friends and family on FB.  To my surprise, they had sold out in hours and I had orders for other colours as well. So I had decided to open Odemin's to support not only my own dreams but the dreams of my own little Arya "Odemin."

Everyday we consider it a privilege and gift to create our art to share with the world, I've shipped my earrings globally from here in Canada to other countries like Norway, Sweden and Germany. I've travelled across Ontario and Quebec to powwows, selling either on my own or with my family and friends. I've taught beading classes online across Canada and spent hours working with other talented artists on various projects and adventures. Overall, Odemin's became so much more than I had even thought it could be and for that, I am forever grateful for all the opportunities it has brought me and my lil family.

So, here at Odemin's, we will be beading today, tomorrow and probably as many days possible after that so stay tuned to see all that me and Arya come up with here from the gorgeous rez here on Lake Temagami. Chi-miigwetch for all the love and support in the work we do <3
